Heidelberg B1 Printing Press

Here’s a few pics of our new Heidelberg B1 Printing Press as it arrives at DXG Towers and freshly installed inside the building.

Image Control

Our new Prinect image control system is now in place. This is a colour management device which controls the print quality off all our printing presses.

The great thing about this machine is that it monitors the whole printed sheet rather than just the control strip at the top of the sheet so giving a much more accurate reading.

With this spectrophotometric machine conforms to ISO 13655 and ISO 12647-2 standard.

We are also able to give the client a printed receipt which confirms any slight movement in colour consistency.

Job Opportunities at DXG

Currently we have no new positions available. If any new positions become available, they will be shown here.

Supplying Artwork to DXG

You can supply your artwork in the following formats:

Quark XPress (supply fonts and images)
Adobe Indesign (supply fonts and images)
Print ready PDF (with fonts embedded)
Adobe Illustrator (with fonts converted to outlines)
Adobe Photoshop (with layers flattened, at least 300dpi – CMYK
Accepted Image formats

Images should be at least 300 dpi to achieve the best clarity. We prefer EPS or TIFF images but we will accept JPEG images as long as they are saved at the highest possible quality.

For full colour images, they must be saved as CMYK (Cyan Magenta Yellow Black). Do not supply images in RGB mode. RGB images look great on screen but final output is always in CMYK.

Printing Processes tips and guidelines

Digital: very cost effective for short run printing, it works directly from electronic data and print in four colour process. The quality is not quite on a par with lithography and you cannot use single Pantones® or metallic inks. Other uses for this process include large format posters & banners on paper or vinyl and transfers.

Litho: by far the most popular print process, a metal plate is treated so that the image area attracts the oil-based inks, while the wet non-image areas resist them. The process is more expensive than digital though and only starts to pay for itself on larger runs.
